Lapinou
Are there any pics online of the sort of thing one might expect to see as hens gear up for their first proper egg? When changing the nesting box straw today, I found something that was definitely not a poo and I'm guessing was a kind of starter egg thingy. I've read all about soft shelled eggs, and looked at pics of lashes but it didn't look like a lash. Stupidly didn't look at it particularly closely, I have to say - just noted it and chucked it away with everything else - but I'm now wondering if there are any pics I might be able to compare it to? family layer
Mine just looked like the girls had laid an egg and forgetten to put the shell on (or like a broken egg with the shell bits missing. Hope this helps. Patience should be provided with the ckicks - waiting is the hardest thing in the world... Good luck!
