Eglu coming soon, a few quick questions

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new here, i have my lovely cube coming on 11th July and I am very very excited.

Anyone who has a cube delivered by courier rather than omlet, is it easy to put together?

What tools do you need, i don't have nay and want to be prepared.

I am going to site the cube on grass and put down hem core once the grass is gone, do I need to put a base down for this or can I just put the hemcore on the grass?

I am going on holiday 3 weeks after the cube comes, I know i should wait until after that to get the girls but I am so excited, would they be ok to be looked after, can you leave the door open so they are just getting food and water topped up. There will be someone coming daily to feed the cats.

How many chooks do you have in a standrad run and cube?

I am sure I will think of many more questions to bother you with soon.

Thanks in advance.

I put mine together with the help of an ordinary screwdriver & a 4 year-old!

It was quite easy to do, & took me about 1 1/2 hours, but I do not have an Omlet run, so if you are getting one you need to allow extra time for this

It's up to you- mine were on *ahem* grass fro a year, with some auboise, but now I am building a walk-in run & will have this on paving slabs.

Should be ok.

Omlet recommend 6 if you're not having the extension, but personally I would only have that number if I had the extension. I would say no more than 4 in the cube with standard run if they are going to be in it all the time, but you could have more hens if they will free range alot.
