Blood speckled eggs?!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Since reading about the 'do not rinse the eggs'...my eggs are boxed & enjoyed without any rinsing or brushing as theyre mostly lovely & clean. BUT, hmmm except Agnes, bless her she is still laying speckled eggs, but its red speckled so its definitely blood. The blood won't brush off, the only way it can be removed is to rinse it off.

Surely she cant be the only chicken laying blood speckled eggs ?

I have checked her & her health appears to be fine, no prolapse, no apparent pain when laying , just the same proud calling to the world as the other chickens . .please any idea what i can do. At the minute i am just keeping all of her eggs for our use & rinsing the blood off .. .so far sooo good, none of us have had any adverse reactions from rinsing them .

Any suggestions appreciated

Hellooooo L a l e f m

:) Thank you, ooh its blood ..definitely blood. To begin with i thought it was a wonderful speckled egg but upon closer inspection its dark red blood :vom:

Not sure what the rules & regs are but there are bound to be some on blood speckled eggs, my hubby doesn't mind it & says to just leave it, that i fuss too much , but then he also says "plus i don't eat the shell" :) .. hmmm but i think it should be cleaned off & have always cleaned it off until reading about not washing the eggs.

Any further suggestions or thoughts appreciated
