Bullying

Recommended Posts

Today I was in the walk in run and was horrified to see Hazel, new chief hen, jump onto poor little Delia and start pecking at the back of her neck. I have not seen this behaviour before and shut Hazel in the run to let Delia recover.

Why has this bullying suddently started happening. I'm a bit worried now as I'm planning on getting four new girls next weekend to add the once harmonious group of 6. I'm starting to think about separating the existing six . . . . . .

Hi

Your chief hen is assetting dominance over the other chooks,

She is just astablishing her rank and it is quite normal.

I see this all the time with my top chook , its not too alarming and the girls really expect it of her, as its her job :D

Hope this helps

Best Wishes
