Are females calmer after being spayed?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if female rabbits calm down after being spayed.

Ours is just six months old and will be spayed soon. At the moment, she would rather run around, and not be picked up or stroked unless on her terms.

As a baby she was very easy to pick up and hold, now she squirms and struggles to get away.

Will she be more content and happy once she is spayed? What are everyone else's experience of females?

Thanks for your advice and thoughts.

I have 2 female bunnies that are about 1 1/2 years old & haven't been spayed. They're both very friendly but have their little quirks i.e. Delilah likes to be picked up but doesn't interact with you much when in the run, whilst Tallulah is the opposite - she'll be fussed & played with whilst in her run but isn't keen on being held (she clings on for dear life!). But they're both social.

They're picked up at least once a day & have been since I got them, are yours frequently held?

my rabbit is far happier after being spayed and she recovered much quicker than I thought. I was really worried about having her done but now I'm glad I did. She was affectionate but very destructive and after a while would start digging at anything she could get her paws on, never mind if it was a chair, a bed, your arm, your leg etc etc. But she was better within a day and now she has fully recovered she's a much nicer bunny to be with
