mrsf
I thought I would post some advice in case anybody else experiences this. Yesterday, one of our chickens was starting to limp, and went quite subdued on us, which is unusual for her. Thinking maybe she'd sprained her ankle I hoped she would recover in a week. Today, instead of limping, she was lifting each leg up quite high in order to walk and couldn't run properly. Then, she disappeared into the coop for ages. I wasn't expecting her to lay any eggs as she hasn't done for about 6 weeks now, not since her friend was killed by Mr Fox. Anyway, she was in there about 20 mins and when she emerged, there was an egg!! So, I think that she was just a bit clogged up with the egg, maybe it was sitting funny inside her, it was a bit bigger than the others ones she's done. She seems fine now, almost walking as normal. Hope this helps if anybody experiences this. Dizzy Foster
Egluntyne
Welcome to the forum. I love the terminology "constipated with an egg"! Describes it perfectly. Good to hear that she is OK. Edited July 7, 2008 by Guest
..lay a little egg for me
oooh, that funny walk...must have been like us trying to walk with a football between our legs. Hmmm, perhaps not laying for 6 weeks meant her bits needed to be re-stretched as it were...poor thing.
