vegetable nets

Recommended Posts

I used a bird feeder, designed to hold nuts for the birds over the winter months and I bought it fairly inexpensively from a pet shop. It worked well as it hung off the top of the eglu run and gave them something to peck at. Alternatively, if it's for big leaves (like cabbages or kale) just tie them up with a bit of string and dangle them into the run....the chickens will happily peck at it for hours :D

I asked a similar question a little while ago and found - string bags!

My research into this topic (you find out about a lot of odd things when you have chickens  ) led me to the website linked above and I invested in five of their bags, which are great. Nothing sharp, no nylon or plastic, no dyes and they're washable.

They are more than big enough to hold a whole cabbage and allow my scoffalots to get to their lettuce without me hand-feeding them or them rolling it round the floor. I tie the cabbage bag to the Cube run and the lettuce one to the dustbin at the other end of the yard, so they all have a chance of getting a bit, though Daisy top-hen hogs the lettuce  .

Don't know how Kate gets her greens to last for hours, my little scoffalots could give a plague of locusts a run for their money

I have the short handled and find them more than long enough to tie together.

Just remembered, they sent me a promo code for a further 10% off all orders over £30 before 31st July, so if you've gots lots of chookie friends or are organised and want to give people something useful for Christmas :D , the code is

JULY8

and needs to be entered on the checkout page.

Hope this helps.
