Hi There

Just been down to check on the girls (yes in the pouring rain ).

Cleaned out nestbox this morning (as they are all still sleeping in there)put in clean straw on top of hemcore. When I looked in one of them seems to have made a cosy nest shape in the clean straw.

Could this be the sign of our first egg?

Could be or maybe she has just made herself very comfortable and had a little snooze zzzzzzz.

 

If she has a nice red crown and wattles then the time could be near. Also, when they are about to lay they crouch when you go near them thinking you are the cockerel. However, 2 of my girls have never crouched - way beneath their dignity.

Quite possible butty! Were there any extra things in it: odd leaves for instance? Maisy did that just before her first egg.
