have your chickens ever tried to climb up your run?

Recommended Posts

This afternoon Truffle flew up to the run from outside and proceeded to try to climb up it, one claw after the other. She repeated this stunt a short time later and almost got to the top. (I've had hamsters who were able to suspend themselves from their ceilings.)

Needless to say, Truffle's the most adventurous of my hens. Has anyone else observed this kind of ambitious behaviour?

Mine have done this when I have shut them out of the run and they need to lay an egg. They seem to think that flying up the front and clinging on will somehow get them into the Cube nesting box.

I sometimes shut them out of their two runs if they are only having a short run-around outside, because getting the right hens back into the right Cube is an awful job.
