Grower's pellets to Layer's

Recommended Posts

I think that it is 18 weeks when you change over to layers pellets. I'm sure Egluntine or another helpful person will be along soon to confirm one way or another.

I have just asked this same question to the lady I bought my chooks off as mine are 14 weeks, 16 weeks and 18 weeks so I was not sure when to change

Thanks, that's great :D I bought a kilo of grower's pellets last saturday when I got them and they drained that like "Ooops, word censored!"ody's business :roll: so now I have a small 3kilo bag.

I am only used to getting huge sacks of feed, so got caught out a bit  luckily we have a feed place close by.

I am looking forward to them laying too, may actually get a regular supply of uneaten eggs then :?

Don't rush them on to Layer's, buy another sack of Growers if necessary. I went to talk by the expert from our local poultry centre and he said they need what's in Growers to put on weight and bone, if they start laying while on growers it's not a problem but if you start them on it too early it could be a problem for them later in life.

My girls were all laying before I swapped mine over and as that was winter they were all over 24weeks old.
