lindi
Hi Having sorted out our problem of bullying thanks to advice from this forum (bumper bits now on) I have another question. We have six hens all delivered 8th April. I think we have one non layer as we never get more than 5 eggs in a day. Betty and Mavis the Mrs Pepperpots are as regular as clockwork with lovely big eggs. The Gingernut Rangers are less consistent but still lay. We were recommended to isolate Milly for a few days as she was the bully and noticed that in the time she was separated she did not lay once and doesn't appear to have started although it is difficult to tell when we are out at work all day and can't monitor who is going in and out of the nesting box. I've read advice on the forum about not letting them roam and no treats but this doesn't seem fair on the other girls who are all doing well. Do you sometimes get a chicken who just doesn't lay or do we have to keep them all in for a bit? We usually don't let them out until the evening when we get in from work so they are confined to the run for most of the day. Thanks, Lindi
Egluntyne
You will just have to be patient I'm afraid. She could be laying, but her eggs might be very similar to those of another hen, and unless you actually catch them in the act, you never know for sure.
