choppish Posted July 14, 2008 Share Posted July 14, 2008 Why ar eggs different colours for different breeds? i have a bovan nera and a white sussex they both eat identical diet yet the white sussex has very pale eggs, and the other 'normal'colour. The brown pigment is taken from the pigment in the chickens legs and beak, some just lay down more brown than others, or none in the case of white layers. Bluelayers get the egg colour from bile!
