I am looking for an old leather chair, e-bay has a few but I may be better off going for a rummage in a shop. Les and Gary's on the London Road in Westcliff on Sea is a big one and there always used to be plenty to look at there but I don't know if it is particularly cheap and it is over 10 years since I was last there Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Posted July 23, 2008 Share Posted July 23, 2008 I'd say forget the shops and go for Ebay - I've furnished half of my house off of Ebay and paid much less than I've seen anything for in any secondhand shop. I have a fantastic rocking, swivelling & reclining chair that cost me a tenner. Loads of Ikea Billy bookcases that go for about half price and also tables sideboards etc all at total bargain knockdown prices. I couldn't recommend it more highly (which considering the Ebay problems I've had lately is surprising to me somewhat - but I've never had a problem wtih a furniture purchase. jackiepoppies Posted July 23, 2008 Share Posted July 23, 2008 Hi Flo, Thats the one thing I really miss about living in Kent....I used to spend whole days at auction houses...it was a hobby!!!!....and one of the best places for finding real bargains. Try Canterbury and Sandwich...catalogues should be available on~line....take some time off and enjoy! Otherwise try Emaauus...?sp...there's one at Dover. Good luck and have fun bargain hunting!
