millymeerkat
My 5 pekins are quite bold and leap all over the joint. But, will they be okay getting up the ladder to the roosting area in the Cube? Anyone already got pekins in a Cube? Any teething problems? They currently have a wooden house with a very low ladder that has a gentle incline, but they do jump all over branches and perches. Have bought my 2nd Cube (hubby not impressed ) but suddenly realised, will they be okay with it or am I being pathetic and over worrying?!?!? Guess I could modify the ladder...? Any advice welcomed! Ta ever so!
Lewis
You could put an upside down plant pot at the bottom of the ladder so that they can hop up onto that and then onto the ladder.
Troy
We have 2 pekins that share the cube with our miniatures and hybrids, so a right mix! I was just as worried as you at first with the girls being so diddy, but they seem to handle it quite well. Lilly (the smallest) does seem to walk around a bit before she pops up but I think shes checking for a clean 'flight' and landing. I've also been surprised to see both girls perched on the higher perches we had made for the bigger girls in the run. Those perches are much higher than the cube. Its funny to see them shoving the hybrids along for more room. See how they get on and if they are struggling with it, maybe some modifications would be in order. Hope that helps a bit and eases the worry! Troy
Egluntyne
Why not copy Gallina's idea and have a ramp. That should make it easy for them to get into the cube. **Here**
millymeerkat
Ooo, ramp idea seems very good. Thanks for easing my worries! Flyte So Fancy have always been very good when I've ordered feeders, drinkers etc from there, but first I'll smile sweetly at Hubby and see if he can make a ramp for me! I also have a Cube waiting for my Cream Legbar chicks - They're just under 3 weeks old now, but when they leave Mum, that'll be their new home. They may need a ramp built too I guess if they leave Mum soonish. And, I guess I'll have to modify the roosting perches incase they fall down one of the gaps! Oh, the drama's of country life... Egluntyne
I would remove the roosting bars and provide them with some non slip matting if I were you, until they are old enough to perch, otherwise they might injure themselves.
