flo35
I wrote to the forum yesterday about my balding limping chicken, who is now passing yellow poo. She is eating and drinking when given and taking grit(limestone), but only a small amount and still reluctant to put on weight on one leg. The other thing she is now doing is shaking her head and not attempting to move at all. She keeps closing her eyes and feels very hot to touch. Could she have sour crop? - if so what do I do? Egluntyne
If she has sour crop her breath will be very smelly and her crop will feel squidgy. It wouldn't make her limp though. Hens do have a naturally high body temperature, so if she feels significantly hotter to the touch than her companions, it might suggest that she has an infection, and if she were mine, I'd be inclined to take her to the vet.
