craftyhunnypie
One of my Araucana eggs has pipped - it's very exciting here again at Hollyho hatchery! 4 out of 6 eggs were fertile on candling. So looking forward to 4 chicks, whether they be male or female. I've got to pop out for a couple of hours, I may have a chick when I get back & more pipped eggs. Best get thinking of unisex names. Will keep you informed & be ready for chick pics! Emma.x

craftyhunnypie
Well it cut round the egg from the underneath last night, but it was the pointy end - which bothered me a bit. It couldn't quite do the push to push the egg top off & squirm out. Still not out this morning, so rather than losing a perfectly healthy chick - we did get the tweezers & snipped the last bit of the shell where it had cut round & out it popped! It's drying out now & is totally gorgeous! Photo later. Hope more hatch today! Emma.x
MedusA
How thrilling! I am really looking forward to day-old-Araucana pics. My two Lavender Araucanas are nearly 14 weeks now and have grown incredibly fast in the four weeks we've had them.
craftyhunnypie
Little chick is doing well in the brooder. We have decided to call it poppet. It has white bits of fluff above its beak, beautiful Araucana style. Really hoping for some more to hatch - I have 3 eggs left. Poppet needs a friend! craftyhunnypie
Hi - I haven't had any more chicks pip. The shells are extremely hard & I wonder if this is the problem - humidity is fine & so is temperature. So I have one very healthy but lonely Araucana chick, with lovely fluff either side of its beak. It's loving the attention from myself - but if we go out for the day then it is not going to get much company until we return. Therefore, we are looking at getting a couple of day old chicks from somewhere to go with it - hubby is in the process of ringing round. Normally, I would have been able to get a day old from my sister - but she is hatching ducks & turkeys at the moment. Emma.x
mrsallen08
How cute! Our Neighbour had 4x lavender araucanas at the same time as we had our Marans and Wyandotte. They are so cute when they are young and full of mischief as they grow older! Im sure once the others start coming through he/she will be fine. We'd love some pics!!!
