Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

Saw one of my ex batts racing across the lawn this afternoon, all the others in hot pursuit, with a baby grass snake dangling from her beak!

 

Thankfully she dropped it and it slithered quickly under a shed......

grass snake or slow worm?? just ask because I believe grassys are becoming incredibly rare nowadays... I've seen one here 2 times in the 10 years we've been here, and because I'm a messy gardener it is a haven for wildlife. on the other hand, we have ZILLIONS of slow worms - mostly in the compost heaps,which means I cant actually use the compost...!

definately grass snake.... I have a messy garden, ponds and see grass snakes most years. And I hope that little one will get over the shock of being carted around by a chicken!
