Just been reading the poisonous plants section and wondered if you know you have some of these plants, have you removed them? I ask as I have just planted a new Hydrangea and I saw they are on the list for being poisonous, should I remove it or will they just ignore it?

I wouldn't worry. I have various things supposed to be poisonous to chickens, which they mostly ignore. They've eaten most of the rhubarb leaves and survived, I reckon most of these things would need to be quite large doses to have an effect. They seem to be pretty good at ignoring the things they're not supposed to eat.

 

I reckon the chickens are more likely to be fatal to the hydrangea, than the other way around!

They do seem to ignore them.

 

There are a few plants and shrubs in the area where my hens play out, which are completely untouched whilst everything else has been razed to the ground.

Mine ignore the hydrangea, and the daffodils and the rhodedenron......

 

Wouldn't worry too much.

thanks for the replies, I will see how they are with it if they attempt to eat it I might just move it to the front garden
