Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Help.

I'm having problems logging on to the forum today, and last night too.

We've got Windows XP and each family member has their own passworded account. Because my password is so fiendeshly difficult (I thought I was being clever) I use that on the XP account and then have auto log-in on the forum (same password & I really don't want to type it out twice ). That's worked fine for ages, I log on to the internet, the forum's my home page and I'm in

But these past 2 days it keeps sending me to the very first log in to the forum pages (I couldn't even remember those 2 words to begin with ), then I need to log in again as me.

This is a pain because I like to pop on and off all day, rarely for more than 5 mins at a time, but for a quick browse at very regular intervals. I'm getting fed up of typing in passwords already and it's only 09:30

Is there any logical reason why this is happening. Has someone (hubby ) changed my settings to limit my computer time..... or have I upset the forum somehow

I'm just a bit baffled why this is suddenly happening- has any one got any ideas

No idea why, Kate, but thought I'd add that it has happened out of the blue to me a couple of times in the past, and then resolved itself later. Hope that's encouraging, it made me feel too and I panicked when I couldn't remember what to do! Thought I'd be off the forum & not be able to post to say so!

I rely on auto log in, so it's beastly when it happens, & I've no idea why, or indeed why it then became OK, I didn't do anything. Hope it returns properly for you too.

No idea about the forum problems Kate,but we tried having seperate passworded accounts on XP & it was a disaster.

 

We went back to just one main account after 2 weeks of logging in & logging out,as it drove me MAD!!!

Windows accounts work for us as the children are time rationed on the internet. They can have unlimited time for homework and so on, but we do tend to supervise the sites they visit and the times that they use the computer, therefore seperate accounts work because their accounts are rationed in terms of internet access.

Poor children, but honestly we have so many fights over computer access that it's the only way that we've found that cuts out the arguments.

I have one of those egg timers that buzzes really loudly to tell me when their hour is up

 

We restrict their online time too,kate.

We have to - we are still on dial-up & get 140 hours a month which sounds like a lot,but a 13 year old with a games obsession can use that up in no time

I can imagine Mine aren't into games..... just MSN, but it's really easy to lose all concept of time when you're engossed in a game or conversation on the computer. I know..... I've done it myself too

 

The egg timer sounds like a good idea Sarah, we used to use one for toothbrushing when they were little, but have never used it for the computer. I might try to find it again

we use a fantastic program called "watchdog" - you can set it for all kinds of eventualities - different times for different days and "session" lengths - ie only half an hour at one sitting...

 

it has eradicated all the arguments we used to have between the three kids about how lomg they had been on and they had forgotten toi look at the clock and had not set the timer etc. etc... also - when we're not there and we have a babysitter or it is early in the morning..

 

it networks across all three computers that we have in the house - there are no arguments now...

 

(also - even for my 14yr old computer whizz - it seems to be tamper-proof!)

 

(it looks like it might now be called pc timecop...)
