CrazyDaizy
Hia folks, Bertie our budgie is approx 6-7 years old, so quite old in budgie years. He has developed a lump under his feathers on his lower tummy. He hasnt been able to fly very well for a few years anyway, and now this lump has appeared. His eyes remain bright, his feathers still neat and well looked after. I have had to adjust his cage slightly and rearrange the perches as sometimes he goes to the bottom and cannot get back up again just by climbing up the cage bars. Since he seems otherwise fine, I am not going to take him to the vets. Has anyone else experienced this problem with budgies?
Olly
sorry, no experience with budgies - just wanted to say I hope he is doing ok. If he's eating and drinking and generally seems happy, then I think you're probably right not to take him to the vets. He's a Senior Budgie at that age! Guest
hi, my budgie is 11 but they can live up to 14 years or so. if he has a lump then it's possibly a tumour, only your vet can tell you though for certain and he might just say it's benign, who knows? Or it could be a cyst that could be sorted out and make him more comfortable. Budgies don't usually show signs of distress until it's almost too late so if he were mine, I'd get him checked out as he could have a good many years left and it is possible he might be in some discomfort.
