Chickens-cum-Quy Posted June 9, 2006 Share Posted June 9, 2006 We have two chickens and were thinking of getting some runner ducks but were wondering if anyone knew if they were able to get along, the chickens have full roam of the garden and the ducks would be given the same freedom but we were worried that they may not interact amicably. We also have about 30 Mallards who have adopted us and who we feed along side the chickens - we have to feed them or they steal the chickens food! The ducks also love the eglu!! The ducks and the chickens get along really well the only thing the chickens do not seem to like are the really small ducklings (the mummy ducks bring their babies to show us every day). Caroline Posted January 24, 2007 Share Posted January 24, 2007 we have two chooks and a pair of fawn runners. They get along fine most of the time. they are all free range. The drake gets a bit territorial but the most they do is run after the chickens for a minute. When we first got the ducks, the chickens used to jump on them and peck them and stuff which I was quite worried about but then the ducks got BIG. Silly chickens....
