Angels4
Until now I hadn't tried real hard tried to cuddle the girls. They have seemed so skittish I was afraid to cause them any stress. Last night for the first time I followed the advice to open the egg port when they returned to roost. I held my breath and slowly opened the port door reached my hands in and plucked out the first girl I saw (I guess she will think twice about roosting in the nest box next time). I got to cuddle her while walking around the yard and she didn't flap or make any noise but rather remained quite docile in my arms.

It is She was softer and lighter than I thought her to be, and this morning I swear she gave me a bit of a wink when I let them out.
