Waklert 150mg: Boosting Wakefulness and Focus

We live in a built up area with neighbours and are looking for a duck breed that is quiet.

 

We also have young children and therefore a pond is out of the question; is there any breeds that do not require a pond?

 

My wife also wants to understand if we can meet the above criteria and still have ducks that lay considerable numbers of eggs she can use for cooking.

Hi, I believe that some ducks don't actually need a pond, just a reasonable sized container that they dip their heads into and drink, but I'm a long way from being an expert on ducks . I'll just move this thread into our duck section where some of our duck keeping forum members are more likely to see it and reply .

 

Also try reading through some of the old postings on there, you may find that the subject has already been discussed. The Practical poultry forum is another good place to go for duck advice .

Hi, i really wouldn't recommend keeping any ducks without water. There may be some breeds that don't need as much as others but i would always recommend a pond - doesn't have to be big but they should have something.

 

As for egg layers - khaki campbell girls (i have 2) are excellent layers (mine lay more then the chickens do)

I have water in a reasonablely sized under bed storage container that is at least 4-5 inches deep (so the can swim.) filled to the brim with fresh water that is changed daily.

I also have 2 indain runner ducks and 2 call ducks who are in and out if it like yoyos. I would deffinatly say that you dont need a pond ie a dug in one, just something for them to get in and out of, have a wash, float about etc.

calls from what Ive been told can be rarther flighty but indain runners just plod about. Im yet to see them fly! Im also yet to see a quiet duck lol, their not overly load either

Yeah - sorry thats what i mean - they don't have to have a pond dug in - mine isn't either - just something large enough and deep enough they can swim in. Mines only about 5 inches deep to. This is what mine use... Was totally ripped off by the domestic fowl trust for it but they use it a lot.
