Lapinou
Wow! Haven't posted for ages! Need some help now though. Millie is having her tail feathers pecked by the other two whenever they're in the run. She's not hurt by it - they're just pecking the tips of the feathers at the moment. But the tail's getting fairly ragged now. They get lots of free-ranging time and, up until now, never seemed to get bored in the run (perch, dustbath and treats in there). Any ideas? Olly
I'm afraid that - although boredom can be a cause of feather-pecking - there are plenty of posts on here that suggest it's not the only cause. Sometimes they just do it because they can! Invest in anti-peck spray, or bumper bits. I am failing miserably with both - the Ukadex is so disgusting that I can't bear to use it again, and I have tried and failed to fit a bumper bit to the bullying hen. Fortunately my pecking problem isn't too bad but I'm going to have to sort it out. Had other things to worry about recently and this went to the bottom of the list.
