Egluntyne Posted September 2, 2008 Share Posted September 2, 2008 Welcome to the forum. An egg bound hen will be miserable, hunched, returning to the nest constantly and straining. You may be able to fee a large egg if you examine her lower abdomen. You may also be able to see the egg if you lok at the vent. If yor hen is straining, place her in warm water for 20 minutes or so, the heat will relax her muscles, and then grease the vent with vaseline or lubricating jelly and it might help the egg out. Place some inside the vent, very carefully, if you can. Try not to tinker about inside the hen too vigorously as the egg might get broken.
