After having our ladies for two weeks we got our first egg yesterday!!! It is really is the most exciting thing - small, but very perfectly formed! ...I loved the ladies already but have a new found respect for Margot now! Just waiting for Dotty to get the idea too....

 

..do hens lay every day now they've started or is it still quite sporadic?

Congratulations....To answer your question about the frequency of eggs. It took my girls a while to start, but once started I get an egg daily (from the girls who are laying). Clairee just started last week and has had one "softie" which I understand is to be expected while thier laying tackle gets sorted out. Ouiser and Truvy haven't started yet, but the are crouching so any day now.

both my girls were already laying when I adopted them and yet I was as giddy as a kipper with each of their first eggs for us so you must be so thrilled.
