jlo
Do chooks go through phases of liking to be handled. Ours got quite friendly and would crouch happily to be picked up and jump up onto our knees when we were sitting with them. Recently, we have let them freerange in the whole garden and they are getting more skittish again. I think that they are feeding pretty well on all the grubs that are coming to the surface with the rain as I can't tempt them back into the run with any treats. they just look at me as if to say, " You must think we are daft. Not going back in there when there is so much scratching to be done out here!" Normal behaviour???
madchickenlady
Sounds exactly like my girls! They used to happily trot back to their run for a treat, but after several weeks of free ranging have realised that being free is much better than corn! Although, they can't help themselves when I throw in a handful of raisins...
