Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

Hi, I am planning on moving my eglu and run to a different place in the garden. Previously I pegged the run down with tent pegs but this is a real pain when I want to clean or move the run.

 

Is it necessary to do this? The land is relatively level but I am worried about foxes. Any ideas please?

I weigh mine down with boulders if that is any help.

 

I found that tent pegs, or Omlet run pegs worked loose if the ground was either very wet or very dry.

I use the screw in tent pegs.

 

Andyman cut down the screw in attachment so we can use it with the electric drill/screw driver. 2 minute jobbie.

Don't know if this is practical if your run's on grass, but I use bits of old slabs on the skirt on my run. Easy to push to the side with your foot when you need to.

I've decided not to bother as it was a hassle. I find it enough of a struggle moving an eglu, run + converter about on my own without trying to find the pegs in the mud as well!

The ground was uneven so I wouldn't have risked it then, but I have just moved them and leveled the ground so that the skirt is flat to the ground. I understood that it is ok without pegs if the ground is flat.......I hope so anyway

I have some bricks on the run skirt and a few heavy plant pots too. But the ground is level (and heavy clay) so I'm not worried that a fox would get under the run.

 

I use tent pegs to hold down the Omlet netting or else the girls would easily get under it.
