pat
Well they are here -- the Eggcube arrived and I couldn't wait to get it put up. After a few roof problems (sorted quickly by Omlet offering to send me a replacement roof- but its not arrived yet) we finally were ready for the big day. Accompanied by family(daughter and grandaughter) we chose 4 chooks. A sussex named Gertie who after 2 days became Dirty Gertie cos she is a big bully, then Flo the ranger who is terrorised by Gertie and if it continues I will need some advice on how to stop it. Then we had a sweetie called Mabel and finally one who looks like a giant cuckoo called Babs. Night 1 we shone a torch in the coop and they got in (witha little help from a broom) and then the next night they put themselves to bed when it got dark. OUr three cats (2 Bengals - hooli and girlie and a Maine coon- Moke) are fascinated by them cos they can see them from their pen. I am hoping to free range them (the ckickens not the cats) as soon as I can. The first thing we do when we get home from work is dash down the garden to see if they are ok, then we do the same at least 10 times til they go to bed.We have only had them for 3 days and already we are hooked. Will report on whether Dirty Gertie calms down or whether we have to enrol Flo on a self defence course.

Gamebird
Congratulations on your new arrivals. Once they have got to know each other and a pecking order has been established things will probably quieten down.
batty hen
Congratulations Pat. The good news is that the novelty doesn't wear off. We're still watching ours to go to bed after nearly a month now! Enjoy!
