The_smeeeths
About a month ago I lost a couple of hens due to an infestation of redmite. I have battled with this over the summer and luckily the rest have survived - until yesterday One of the girls was very still and had her tail down, and was making a bubbling noise as she was breathing - she did not last the day. My other girls (only 12 left now) have started coughing, sneezing an wheezing and one of them is in the same state as the one that died yeasterday. Does anyone know of anything going around at the moment. It sounds like some sort of fluid or lung infection. Anyone that can help
Snowy
So sorry to hear about your hens They go downhill so quickly don't they? I think if you have more than one with the same symptoms you really need to get at least one to the vet for a diagnosis and antibiotics for the whole flock - otherwise you could end up losing them all Hope you get them sorted. Egluntyne
I agree with Snowy. I'd take quick action if I were you. It doesn't particularly sound red mite connected. Fingers crossed for them.
jellyb100
I haven't experience myself, but could it be gape worm?
Sandychick
I haven't experience myself, but could it be gape worm? I was thinking the same Two of mine had this and the symptoms sound very simular (except they didn't sneeze). They also stretch their necks and shake their head as if something is stuck - are they doing anything like that?
Egluntyne
Bubbling noises suggest a chest infection. I would seek a vet's opinion tomorrow and start them on any treatment suggested right away.
