Looking for reassurance

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have two layers or did :(

I have had them a month+ or so now, the farmer asures me that they where both laying.

I had a perfect egg off one on day 3 & one last week.....Nothing since.

A very kind person sent me some wormer & they are now on day 4 of that in the hope of moving things along maybe as well as the chance of worms.

Is this normal?

I feel

Worming them would be the first thing I would try. What sort are you using, is it Flubenvet?

What are they eating / are they getting enough pellets? Too many treats or lots of free ranging allowing them to eat other stuff instead of pellets would result in less eggs. Maybe try them on just pellets / pellet porrage for a few days.

Do they seem healthy in other ways? Only other thing I could suggest is to give the chickens / housing a good check over for lice or mites or anything else that might be upsetting them.

Good luck, hope you get some eggs soon!

I am currently feeding them 50% layer & 50% growers & a hand full of grit/shell for good mesure due to there being the younger ones in there.

I may be wrong but if they are not on 100% layers pellets they will not be getting all the nutrients they need to lay all the time. Untill the younger girls they are in with are old enough to be on layers as well you may carry on having this problem.
