troyster
Hi i've only had my girls for a week today and one of them is hurt already! She banged her foot on the entrance to her Eglu and is now limping about on one foot. We have examined her foot and there doesn't seem to be any external damage, but she won't put any pressure on her foot and has retired indoors...(with her sisters). What should I do? How resilient are chickens anyway?? Thanks Stressed Mother Hen
Egluntyne
They do this sort of thing all the time, so try not to worry. You have examined it and there appears to be no broken bones so it is probably just a sprain. She will take it easy for a few days, which will allow things to settle. You could give her some arnica pilules or apply cream to help with bruising. Try to ensure that she has a chance to eat and drink. One of my girls limped for three weeks after doing similar. troyster
Eglutine - Thank you very much - you have helped me twice now in 2 days, I have put some food in a half tennis ball for her with her in the eglu - ill try and get her out later to drink - so hopefully she should be fine thanks again
