freespiritbutterfly
Hi, I have just been reading on the here that bokashi is recommended by omleteers and i was just wondering if you should mix it in with the layer pellets or replace them with bokashi or just add bokashi as a treat? The answers probably around here somewhere but i'm still learning how to use the forum and finding my way around. Thanks for any help. The Dogmother
It's a good idea to mix a handful in with their pellets or mash when you mix it up. Bokashi Bran really helps keep the smell of their poo down, and is wonderful for the digestive systems, making sure that they get plenty of good bacteria. You can also use it on your wormery and compost heap to encourage the worms as they seem to love it.

The Ives Clan
We have not came across bokashi. Where do you get it? We were told to use garlic powder and have been happily using it for the last few weeks. I think it is doing the same job as we don't get much smell. Does anyone else use garlic powder? The Dogmother
I use both for my chooks and you can get them online from the Omlet shop. Slightly different - you're right about the deodorising bit, but the garlic also has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.
helenmb
My girls have it in their layers mash every day along with Limestone flour and Garlic Powder. I used to put it in the poo tray but they kept eating it so just use a sanitiser and news paper or wood chips instead. It works as a treat too as they do love it and its so good for them too.
