Hybrid or purebreed?

Recommended Posts

Pure Breeds as the name suggests are a single breed. Hybrids are bred from a mixture of other breeds over time.

We have 3 hybrids 2 Pepperpots from Omlet and a White Star and 1 pure breed Light sussex who had turned out to be a really good layer, she can be a table bird or a layer dual purpose.

Generally hybrids tend to be better layers and will lay in the winter whereas pure breeds tend to lay less and stop during the winter. We got our Light Sussex in August 07 and she was POL so she laid throughout last winter but she proabbly won't this year
