Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

after a hardworking year of laying every day, and having just gone through a moult, all three of my chickens are looking a bit thin and bedraggled. .

They used to be quite plump-breasted but now feel quite boney and I'm worried they are too thin to manage the winter frosts.

They seem happy and lively and feeding well - how can I fatten them up?

There is a lot of chat about this on the forum at the mo.

 

You could give them growers pellets which have more protein than layers, or tuna (rinsed) organic cat food, scrambled egg. All will help with feather growth and will put a bit of weight on the girls.

thenks very much for your speedy reply - I can only find layers pellets locally, not growers but will keep looking.

Hadn't though to give eggs as seems a bit weird feeding them their own eggs - but will give it a try
