DianeB
One of my hens, Sarah-Jane, started laying a couple of months ago, and all was well - one egg every day, very reliable. Then she was really unwell for a few days and produced a softie, perked up a bit over the next few days and is now fine, pecking around as normal and eating fine. BUT... she hasn't laid another egg since, and it's now been about 10 days. I've seen a couple of yolky poos in the run during the week, and her poos in the bottom of the eglu run are a bit runny. She's eating fine, pellets, grit and eggshell available, occasional treats in the afternoon, and free-ranging round the veggie plot. What can I do to get her laying again? I miss my scrambled egg!! My other hen, Martha, is fit as a fiddle and still producing every day thank goodness. Any advice really welcome. Diane (Must get a signature sorted out!) Egluntyne
Has she been wormed? If she free ranges she could have picked up an infestation. Info about creating a signature **here**
Hen Watch
As Egluntine says may be worth worming her just as a precaution. Also, could give her a calcium boost with some Limestone Flour which is the powdered calcium horse feed suppliment. I buy a 3kg tub for about £6 from an equestrian supply shop. Just add a bit in their feed each day to help with egg shell strength.
