4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Hi there

My two hens are currently moulting for the first time (they are 7 months old) and as well as there being a load of feathers in the eglu there also is a lot of what looks like white scaly feather quill "bits". Is this usual or is there something wrong?

 

Any advise would be most welcome.

Welcome to the forum.

 

White quills are perfectly normal after a moult.

 

The feather appears in a little white casing, which is eventually shed as the feather unfurls.

 

Nothing to worry about.
