I bought one for the girls when I was out - took the sprouts off for us, then put the stalk complete with tiny sprouts and nice big head of leaves in the ground in their ranging area. They went mad for it - and demolished it in no time!!

Never get between a hen and a sprout stalk!

 

About a week after my ex-batts arrived, I was given a big bag of cabbage and sprout stalks and didn't think they'd like them, never having seen such things before. They got through them quicker than a swarm of locusts and then complained when they were all gone

I haven't tried this, but mine turn their beaks up at cabbage, tomato and most veg leftovers - unless it is cooked and soft. Then they pull bits off and run off with it!

Mine don't seem to like anything other than pellets and corn. Oh, and black grapes. But they have to be black grapes, they don't like the green ones

I buy Brussel 'tops' (the green bits and stalk minus the sprouts) from Leicester Market. Got a large bag last week for £1.00 My girlies go mad for them - but I'm too embarassed to tell the lady who sells them that her lovely veg is for my hens and not for me!
