Haltonshappyhens
Okay .. I have only had my ladies since August so forgive me if this is nothing out of the ordinary... I have a black rock who has been laying every day for the past 6 weeks.. only I have been sick with the Flu so my mum has been feeding the chickens and she (Paxo the chicken.. not my mother!) hasn't laid for the four days.. do chickens miss their main carer??.. No I didn't think so !! Today her vent was rather dirty and she has very loose poo's.. Should I be worried. She doesn't need worming and is acting like a perfectly happy and healthy chicken in all other ways. the other two A sliver campine and cream legbar are not laying .. but we live in hope!.. oh and they are fine.. thanks I just know someone will have some helpful words.. what would I do without this forum.? It is my life line. Justine
Snowy
Actually I think they do miss their main carer! Mine always go on strike when we go on holiday However, it could also just be the time of year. She may have stopped completely for a few weeks to shed a few feathers and regrow some, or she may just lay less frequently throughout the winter. Sorry, forgot to add, some live yoghurt - small amount each day, will help with the squits. It's quite common for them to get squitty poos, depending on what they have eaten. If it persists though, you may need vet advice. Try some live yoghurt first though.

sandyhas3chucks
I have one girl that yoghurt gives the squits to. Just be aware. Bokashi also helps firm up, had another several weeks ago that need anti biotics though to clear her tum. (tried allsorts over 2 week period, she wasn't poorly though started to loose weight)
