i just set that to record (busy evening making lemon curd, am shattered!) just taking 5, phew!

I just watched it and shocked to see they've only use chicken wire and not weld mesh on the run especially as they were trying to attract wildlife.

I hope the chickens are safe with the fox about.

Alexander & I both shouted " It's purple" when we saw the eglu, & sucked in our breath in horror at the end when the night camera showed a fox in the garden.

The chicken run they made was roofless & made from chicken wire

I just watched the latter half of the program - so happy to see that the family were getting chickens as part of their make over - then saw the run that was being made. They used ordinary chicken wire! (The chicken keeper in me tutted at that!)

 

Two seconds after that there was an EGLU! Woo hoo for Eglus!

 

Two minutes after that there was a shot of a FOX walking through the garden!! I'm sure the garden designers thought it was great to have a fox in a wildlife garden!

 

Ooops! They really ought to have come and asked us first huh?

 

(hahahaha - I am not the only one to have noticed!)

I wonder why they didn't go for an eglu with an Omlet run?

Both DH and myself were shocked to see them using chicken wire! I thought it was a great idea especially as they were building a bigger chicken run, but it seems a bit pointless when it certainly won't keep them safe.

 

Although the family did comment that they were more like pets than anything else!

A long time ago (before the summer perhaps)I remember someone winning a competition for a garden makeover and wanted a purple eglu I think, was this programme the result? Or am I totally senile?

I just caught the last 2 mins of this programme- saw chickens- DH and I shouted CHICKENS!! then in the next breath FOX!!!

 

Glad we weren't the only people who were shocked at seeing that- not happy with hearing about the run with no roof.

I have to say that if Omlet donated the eglu to the proggy then they should be a bit miffed at the fleeting glance we got of it. Not exactly advertising. They could have at least mentioned it's funky proportions, it's cool appearance or the fact that it's blooming good for what it's designed for (something that can't be guaranteed these days).

I saw it too, shouted Purple at the telly and promptly texted OH (who is on nights) to tell him to hoof it back to the station to watch! He declined my offer with one of these faces - (which he uses alot).

 

Fox - horrified

 

Chooks - wandering around s"Ooops, word censored!"ing and clucking, lovely

 

Chook wire - horrified again, did the researchers not research properly?! No chooks left if theyre not careful.......

It wasn't me though... I'm still waiting for mine and I think it's going to be a purple cube with an extension run - coming this Sunday (fingers crossed...)

 

As it developed we're not getting a garden make over, but some plants and a garden feature. Initially they decided on one of those wooden gazebo things with hard wooden seats inside... but I have a bad back and don't like to sit outside when it's cold, so I convinced DH to ask for a cube... as an option... and it's coming! Yippeee!

 

So soon to be proud owner of as well as our good old . No new garden though... but we got the main thing... and the garden is OK(ish)... and all the bark would get spread all over the manicured lawn when we send the 'slug patrol' out for a freerange... and the manicured lawn would last an afternoon in is immaculate state...
