madchickenlady Posted December 16, 2008 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Hi all My wonderful hubby brought me two little pekins home last weekend for christmas! So I now have a beautiful partridge girl, and a very friendly, sweet splash girl. Now, the splash is very friendly and sweet, and already eating out of my hand (much like my other pekins). Thing is, the partridge, Delilah, is a bit older than Mini Mildred, the splash, and very flighty. She panics when I go near, and is very easily spooked. Whereas Mini Mildred will tolerate being picked up with just a little grumble, Delilah legs it all around the garden. I try to be as slow moving and non threatening as possible, but as soon as I get my hands any where near her, she pecks me It doesn't hurt, but I'm not exactly keen on the experience. Has anyone else had this? And how did you solve the problem? My other four pekin girls have never been pecky, so I'm at a loss Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Egluntyne Posted December 17, 2008 Share Posted December 17, 2008 Why not get her used to being handled by lifting her out of the pop hole at night when she is drowsy and holding her.
