hi- getting my pol hybrid layers next week- i know hens egg numbers tend to drop over winter so will my hens not begin to lay till spring time?

I don't think the hybrids are affected as much as the pure breeds so you may be ok.

 

One of my hybrids has started to lay in the last couple of weeks.

It might take them a little longer to get started than Spring hatched girls, purely because of the short days.

 

I have 4 girls who are now 25/6 weeks and have not started laying yet, but their faces have reddened and their combs and wattles have developed noticeably in the last few days. They aren't crouching yet, but I am hoping for a green New Year egg.
