First eggs since September!

Recommended Posts

Just thought I'd share this with you!

My 3 girls stopped laying in September, moulted like nothing I've ever seen before, combs *straightened then shrunk

The moulting was a real shock! I've never seen so many feathers outside of a duvet! Every morning!!

I thought last week one of the girls was due to lay again as her comb grew then flopped (*breed trait), so imagine my delight when yesterday, after 4 mths of them freeloading  I get an egg! And another one today  I'm so proud :D

ps I've also got a little cockerel I've had for 3 weeks and he really is the sweetest little boy! Still a baby at 11 wks but he's going to be big. Looks very much like an Amber Star (I'll post some pics tomorrow but he's def Amber Star). Does anyone know what the Amber Star is a hybrid of?

The amber star is the product of an RIR cockerel and either a white leghorn or a white plymouth rock hen. Female chicks are ginger, male chicks are white.

My little chap is white with red flecks on his wings. The pictures I've seen of Amber Stars are the image of my young boy. He's huge for 11 wks with chunky yellow legs. I'll take some photo's tomorrow.

(Thanks Snowy!)
