Have bought us one of these (rude not too at £4.99 instead of £29.99 originally) today but even though it comes with four recipes does anyone have some nice ones they could share. Have never done waffles before and their standard recipe sounds sweet. Also, not sure if I like the sound of the cheese ones Thanks

I have a waffle maker that you need to heat on the stove top, over twenty years old. This is my favourite recipe (pre metric I'm afraid).

 

4 oz.soft butter/margarine

3 oz. caster sugar

3 eggs

1-2 tablespoons rum (though I usually add 1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract)

8 oz plain flour

1 and a half teaspoons baking powder

8-10 fl.oz milk (works well with soya milk)

 

Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in eggs and rum/vanilla.

Fold in sifted flour alternately with the milk to make soft dropping consistency.

(I find that about 1 and a half tablespoons of mixture fills my iron when it rises without too much escaping). Cook until steam ceases and waffle is golden brown and cooked through.

 

We have experimented with various toppings over the years but I always come back to maple syrup and a sprinkling of icing sugar.

This is great as the machine I got at Christmas has interchangeable plates for waffles, donuts, toasties, and griddle, but no recipes! And non-metric suits me fine.
