first bantam egg & its arrived in january.. is this normal??

Recommended Posts

we have two pekin bantams that are my daughters pets. we got them last march (they were 26 weeks) and towards the end of summer one of them (clarabel) started laying, laid about a dozen eggs then went broody.

annie, the other banty has never laid a thing.. until yesterday when she laid a perfect little egg & then another today.

i was expecting no more eggs from either of them until march time, when the spring weather & longer days arrive.. is it normal for purebred bantams to lay in winter? especially with it being a first egg? or is her body clock 'out' in some way?

my little girl is very pleased with the eggs :D but they were just such a suprise!
