bare bottoms and a straw fettish

Recommended Posts

Hello

I wonder if anyone could offer me any advice.

My dominant hen has a full pair of beautiful fluffy bloomers but her two subordinates have bare bottoms. Her droppings also appear to contain small pieces of quill and I have seen her eating feathers on occasions. Is there anyway I can stop this behaviour? Is there something missing from her diet or is it a dominance issue?

She also has the irritating habit of removing all the straw from the nest box as soon as I put it in. She then struts around picking up single strands of straw and puts them on her back. This bit makes me laugh but I would like to uderstand why she does this.

I look forward to any response.

She is displaying nesting behaviour in her antics with the straw.

The feather pecking is a nuisance and a difficult habit to break.

You could try spraying the knickerless girls with anti peck spray.

If that is no good, applying a bumpa bit to the naughty girl should help. Available form th e Wernlas Collection for the price of a stamp.

DIversions such as greens to peck at may also distract her.
