Who laid the egg?

Recommended Posts

Storm has been laying eggs for about a week, not everyday but there have been a couple where they were one day after the other. On Saturday we had been out and we came home about 6, so as it was dark I went and shut the Eglu door. I decided to check again to see if there was an egg, there was. I picked it up, took it indoors and put it straight into the bowl in the larder to weigh and date this morning. I assumed it was Storms. However, this morning, when I went to weigh it, I saw that it is noticeably very much lighter and creamier in colour than the ones storm has been laying. I know its not Mollys as she was laying for her previous owner and she told me that hers are very dark brown eggs.

So, has Storm just laid a random creamy one, or has Charlotte laid her first egg? I am making the assumption that its Charotte as its so much lighter; am I right to do so?

If anyone has any thoughts on this, I really would appreciate them,

TIA

Hard to say, really, you may just have to see what tomorrow brings. Another pale egg and you could probably assume it's Charlotte's. If not, it could just be Storm laying a one-off with less pigmentation.

You didn't waste any time adding your new (red eglu) to your signature  .

I shall wait and see what tomorrow brings then :D

As for my signature, you have no idea how hard it was not to add it as soon as gandt agreed to sell me the eglu and put an 'arriving' date on here.:lol:

Thats it though, two eglus is my limit, but, if we get a walk in run built I might be able to squeeze in another two hens :shh:
