Mrs AVP
One of our girls ate a frog at the weekend, and I have just noticed that there were two small soft eggs in the tray today. One of them had egg white in and the other just yolk!! Is there anything we can do to make them better? Do you think the frog must have affected her laying eggs? Many Thanks
Phoebe
I had a soft egg monday, which I put down to the shock of the cold weather. Whichever hen laid it seemed to know as she laid it on the bars (and it then fell through to the poop tray)instead of in the nestbox. Since then, all is back to normal. Read the sticky on soft eggs as that has lots of helpful info.
speckled hen
its strange that you mention your girl knowing about soft eggs, Daisy has laid a couple recently and they have all been laid thru the bars into the tray! Strange!
dancing cloud
Joy laid softies regularly and I added Zolcal D to the water after seeing it recommended on this forum. Seems to have done the trick By and large Joy laid her softies in the nest box and made a mess - but it gave the others something to eat and paddle in while laying their own eggs
Mrs AVP
Thanks they are back to normal today. She must have known aswell as I found them through the bars, not in her nest. Maybe it was the cold weather.
