ails
Hi there, On Saturday it will be 2 weeks since we picked up our girlies and they appear to have settled in fine. They look healthy and lively apart from the fact that one of them has extremely runny yellow/brown poo. I think it is Bluebelle but I am struggling to catch anyone in the act to be sure. We have been feeding them layers pellets from Day 1 and they have shown a total lack of interest in treats. They have however shown an amazing interest in warm porridge with natural bio yoghurt and layers pellets which I served up to them yesterday morning and this morning. They also had access to their normal Grub feeder full of layers pellets. I had read that layers mash and bokashi might help with the runny poo so I ordered the combined pack from Wiggly Wigglers which arrived today. Can anyone give me advice on how to serve the layers mash with bokashi as there are no instructions on the bag - it just says "serve as normal". Also does anyone have any other advice on how to cure the runny poo and how long I should wait before possibly seeking advice from a vet? Hen Watch
Layers mash (sometimes called layers meal) is just pellets but in powder form. So the stuff you've bought is just premixed with feed. You don't need to do anything to it. Just put it in their feeder. Be warned - my lot make the most terrible mess with mash and flick it all over the floor. The bokashi might help firm up runny poops. I have a bag of bokashi and just chuck it in with their food. With the poops, it could just be that they are still calming down from the stress of transit. My lot pooped like mad for a few weeks before settling down. But you are wise to keep a close eye on them just in case. They have however shown an amazing interest in warm porridge with natural bio yoghurt and layers pellets which I served up to them yesterday morning and this morning. Oh yes...... they do like a bit of pampering. My lot got hooked on "pellet porridge" last year and vetoed the pellets all together.... naughty girls so I had to go "cold turkey" to get them back onto pellets again so my chicken sitter didn't have to go mad making special food for them.
