How do you serve Layers Mash?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

On Saturday it will be 2 weeks since we picked up our girlies and they appear to have settled in fine. They look healthy and lively apart from the fact that one of them has extremely runny yellow/brown poo. I think it is Bluebelle but I am struggling to catch anyone in the act to be sure.

We have been feeding them layers pellets from Day 1 and they have shown a total lack of interest in treats. They have however shown an amazing interest in warm porridge with natural bio yoghurt and layers pellets which I served up to them yesterday morning and this morning. They also had access to their normal Grub feeder full of layers pellets.

I had read that layers mash and bokashi might help with the runny poo so I ordered the combined pack from Wiggly Wigglers which arrived today.

Can anyone give me advice on how to serve the layers mash with bokashi as there are no instructions on the bag - it just says "serve as normal".

Also does anyone have any other advice on how to cure the runny poo and how long I should wait before possibly seeking advice from a vet?

it says here http://www.omlet.co.uk/shop/shop.php?cat=Chicken%20Extras&sub=Food&product_id=190&sort=popularity&start=0 that bokashi should be served as 5% of their normal feed.

The bio yoghurt should help the runny poos. One of mine gets runny poos if she drinks muddy water, the silly girl still does it though  bio yog usually sorts it out but if it's not working with your girls and it's been like that for some time, it might be worth consulting a vet.

In the meantime, lay off any treats and just give them their mash with a bit of bokashi.
